Compositional and formal analysis of five singular façades in the city of Barcelona, Spain

Introduction: As one traverses a topographically flat city like Barcelona, monumental structures with distinct characteristics in the profile of their facades are unveiled. These features encompass compositional and formal identities that differentiate them from others, rendering them singular. The perspective offered by the volumetric interplay of reliefs, balconies, pilasters, and tribunes presents a complexity diverging from the typically flat facade. Objective: From this, one may question the singularity inherent in a facade and entertain the idea that this element can encapsulate the entire architecture of the building. Methodology: Thus, this investigation emerges as part of the culmination of a master's thesis in Project, Process, and Programming at ETSAB. It entails interpreting the facade as an isolated object in its entirety and employing two well-known tools intrinsic to the architect: drawing and paper. Results: The former serves as a deliberate instrument for comparing the intricacies of relief detailing, constituent parts, and the upper termination of the facade. This is coupled with a basic interpretation facilitated through two paper maquettes, allowing for a three-dimensional consideration of the object's complexity and depth. Conclusion. Concentrating on a specific analysis of elements comprising each section of the facade revealed similarities upon their juxtaposition, thereby enabling the development of parameters that unveil the formal composition of each case.

Determination of statistical dependence of the working temperature of rigid bearings in industrial processes using ANOVA in RStudio

Introduction: Nowadays the operating temperature has become the most important variable in the technical evaluation of the overall performance of a deep groove bearing. This is mainly since several critical factors have a greater or lesser dependence on the working temperature, operating factors such as lubricant viscosity, load carrying capacity, load distribution and power loss, which have been shown to be proportional in various investigations. Objective: In this article, the dependence of the working temperature of a 618 deep groove ball bearing on operating variables such as lubricant film density and operating speed to which this element is exposed in the industrial process of mineral crushing is determined. Results: 27 in situ measurements of the working temperature were carried out at operating speeds between 1200 and 3600 revolutions per minute and lubricant densities between 100 and 135 centistokes. These data obtained were processed by means of multifactorial ANOVA to establish the influence of the above-mentioned variables in relation to the working temperature. As a result, it was established that the operating speed has a direct influence on the variation of the working temperature of the deep groove ball bearing under study, which implies that this variable should be analyzed when the bearing is replaced or sized. Conclusions: It was concluded that the working temperature has a direct dependence with the operating speed of the bearing under study and with the type of lubricant used in it, in addition it could be determined that the present study contributes significantly in the execution of maintenance tasks, in the elaboration of production plans and in the root cause analysis of failures in assets with rotating elements under operational contexts with different operating variables at industrial level.

Socio-spatial impact assessment of a shopping center influence; planning polygons z26-z27-z28 Paseo Shopping, Riobamba-Ecuador

Introduction: In Latin America, the accelerated increase of real estate projects and urban commercial facilities has a significant impact on the socio-cultural, economic, political, and spatial development of its cities. Riobamba is no exception to this dynamic, especially after the construction of the "Paseo Shopping" shopping center. The construction of this complex has involved the reconfiguration of several urban intervention polygons (z26, z27 and z28), altering the pre-existing urban planning to align with the new commercial axis. This transformation has had a direct impact on the commercial valuation of the area, evidencing an increase of approximately 800% in the commercial cadastral value in the last decade. Objective:  To evaluate the socio-spatial impact of the influence of a shopping center; specific case of the Z26-Z27-Z28 planning polygons surrounding the Paseo Shopping mall in the city of Riobamba-Ecuador. Methodology: The research has a quantitative-qualitative approach; quantitative because of the importance of analyzing the transformations of the urban fabric, the value of the land and the measurement of the minimum index of habitability of each sector. Qualitative because of the observation of land use, equipment and infrastructure and their influence on people's ideology. Results: The research reveals that polygon Z26, established 40 years before Z27 and Z28, did not experience the influence of the commercial center in its development. In contrast, Z27 and Z28 adapted their land use to high value residential, evidenced by NBI indicators that explore social inequality. Conclusion:  The development of centralities, such as Paseo Shopping, widens social inequalities and urban fragmentation, benefiting the upper classes and increasing land costs (Z27 and Z28). Inclusive land management and policies are essential to reduce inequalities and promote equitable access to urban land.

Effect of bipolar clamp treatment on OVE in felis catus

In the veterinary clinic, sterilization is the most frequently performed surgery in female cats, not only because of its role in the prevention of reproductive pathologies, but also because of its contribution to the reduction of the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. In this context, the present study is framed in the dynamic landscape of veterinary medicine, characterized by a revolution driven by technological advances. The research proposed the implementation of the bayonet style bipolar clamp of the Italian origin LED Electrocautery SPA SURTRON 160, Code 10100.30. The main objective was to evaluate the impact of the treatment with these bipolar forceps in Ovariectomy (OVE) in domestic cats (Felis catus). The methodology employed involved the comparison of two surgical techniques in a group of 30 feline patients, homogeneously divided. Group A, which underwent OVE, was treated using polyglycolic acid absorbable suture, while group B underwent the same procedure, but using bipolar forceps. This methodologically rigorous approach sought to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the effect of treatment with the bipolar clamp compared to the conventional absorbable suture technique. Results. By working with a homogeneous sample of feline patients, a uniform data set was obtained. The results indicate that the Ovariectomy Surgery (OVE) performed.

Relationship between the type of diet and the formation of biliary sludge in canines

There is a wide variety of balanced foods, of different brands, presentation, price, quality, which meet or do not meet the minimum nutritional requirements and influence in one way or another the functioning of the organs, specifically the digestive system, including the gallbladder whose silent job is to accumulate, concentrate and transport bile.  The alternation of its functioning can generate the formation of grit that leads to stones or diseases such as acute or chronic cholecystitis (hemorrhagic), cholangiohepatitis, etc., therefore, this research aimed todetermine whether there is a relationship between the type of diet and the formation of biliary mud, taking the data resulting from the echographic examination of 100 canines selected from among those who attended the Pet Wash veterinarian during June and August 2023. Through a qualitative, observational, cross-sectional, correlational, and non-experimental approach, pertinent information was collected through a survey and then the worksheet was filled with the variables under study: age, race, sex, physical build, type of diet (balanced, homemade, mixed, barf), level of bile sludge (normal, mild, moderate, severe or severe). As a result, it was obtained that, of the variables analyzed, the type of diet has a significance index of 0.002, which confirms the assumption that feeding has a direct relationship in the formation of the bile sludge, in addition, when applying Cramer's coefficient V 2, a coefficient of 0.451 is obtained, which is equivalent to a moderate relationship between these two variables. It is concluded that, of the types of food of the canine specimens, homemade food, individual or combined (with balanced or prepared food), generates in the majority (60%) the cases of the presence of bile sludge. Indigenous justice in Community and Ancestral Territories

Indigenous justice systems are not recognized or do not have a solid legal basis, this can lead to the marginalization of these systems and their exclusion from legal and political decision-making processes, resource inequality: Indigenous justice systems often faces resource constraints, including a lack of funding and a lack of trained staff, this makes it difficult to operate effectively and can put Indigenous communities at a disadvantage compared to more resourced state legal systems. (Indigenous justice, 2002). It is suggested that there is a significant degree of awareness and understanding of the justice systems of indigenous communities. greater media and academic visibility of indigenous issues, awareness and education campaigns, as well as greater interest among people in learning about the cultures and rights of indigenous peoples. Ecuador is a country with a significant presence of indigenous communities that have maintained their traditions and justice systems over time. To understand the meaning and importance of this data, it is crucial to explore the historical and social context of the country, as well as the government policies and indigenous movements that have influenced the visibility and recognition of indigenous justice. The objective was to analyze indigenous justice as a conceptual and legal approach for a better understanding of the authors at the time of applicability, the descriptive methodology was used focused on bibliographic and field research at the time of analysis, the logical historical, the induction. deduction and analysis and synthesis.
