Abstract

Introduction. Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is a type of intimate partner violence with serious personal and family consequences. Objective. This study describes the prevalence of TDV victimization and perpetration (physical, sexual, psychological, and cyber), considering region, gender, and instruments. Methodology. A systematic review was conducted with PRISMA, using keywords and Boolean operators. Results. As a result, 12 studies were selected. South America presented the highest rate of psychological victimization (97.56%), physical perpetration (37.6%) and sexual perpetration (30.8%); Europe registered the highest rate of cyber victimization (72.6%). The female gender presented higher sexual victimization (12.3% and 52.5%), psychological victimization (1.5% to 64%) and cyber perpetration (53.2% and 56%); the male gender presented higher sexual perpetration (1.9% and 51.2%). The CADRI was used as a measurement instrument to assess TDV in 8 of the 12 selected studies. Conclusion. In conclusion, the results revealed great variability in prevalence rates by region, bidirectionality of TDV for both male and female genders, and the need to standardize instruments for future TDV research. General Area of Study: Psychology. Specific area of study: Teen Dating Violence. Type of study: Bibliography Review.
